Teresa Tarn Pickleball

Hi, I’m teresa tarn.

I am a former D1 College softball player that has become addicted to the fastest growing sport across the country. No you do not need a racket sport background to excel!! PICKLEBALL has become my “drug” of choice. Yes, I am hooked! I travel the country competing as a senior pro. I have won many medals in senior pro as well as at the US Open in Naples. Competition and teaching is part of my DNA and now I am also enjoying teaching lessons, camps and clinics.

Coaching experience

Coaching and teaching has been a part of my bloodline. I graduated Michigan State with a Bachelor of Science teaching degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in sports psychology and kinesiology. Since then I have coached basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball. However, these days my sole athletic focus is on pickleball.

Rapid Rise

Personally, I believe it is difficult to coach aspects of a given game if you yourself have not experienced them. When it comes to pickleball, I’ve gone through the stages of beginner, intermediate, to senior pro. Therefore, regardless of the stage you are in, I will be able to relate. Also, in a short three and a half years since picking up a paddle I have risen from a novice to competing at senior pro. I know the tricks, tips, and strategies to rapidly improve your game and I hope you work with me on your own game!

A Personal Thank you!

I can’t describe how amazing this pickleball journey has been, and I know I can’t say thank you to everyone because that list would be well too long, but I want to thank you if you are reading this! The support I have received in this community has been tremendous, and I hope to be able to support you as well!

My Approach

Success is determined what I do on the court as well as off! Great instruction, practice and repetition and trusting my skills to perform consistently are vital for training on the court. Creating good habits which include strength and conditioning, skills training, mental training, nutrition and rest are all vital components to my off court training.

HArd work

Generally I work out 6 days a week. Each day involves at least 2 hours of drilling whether that is with a ball machine or with a friend. I also throw in wall hitting for fast hands training. I then will play 2-3 hours of rec play and finally finish with some sort of cardio and weights, resistance bands or HITT program.

Build it

Working on the technical side of pickleball is a focus for me …… starting with my feet, athletic stance, weight transfer, contact point and paddle position. This becomes essential to execute any shot and takes fine tuning daily. Strategy then becomes the focus and the “Chess” match begins!
